I know what you may be thinking.  A CPA and former CFO recommending that businesses look beyond the numbers, something doesn’t quite add up.  For those that know me, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise.  I’ve been a walking contradiction most of my life.  Born, raised and lived my entire life in Wisconsin, yet I can’t stand beer, cheese, brats or the Packers (die-hard Steelers fan for those keeping track).  I’m an accountant by trade and father of three daughters, yet my favorite genre of music is still late 90’s rap.  I can recite every word of Frozen AND Frozen II, yet I drive a F150 truck and love to go trap shooting.

In my life and in business I believe in the power of balancing both ends of the spectrum.  When I graduated college with degrees in Management, Marketing and Economics, I started my career in sales before making the 180 degree shift into the world of Finance and Accounting.  I've spent as much time learning about and developing company culture as I do drilling into numbers to drive actionable insights.  In addition to leading a Finance department the last 15 years I’ve also overseen IT, Supply Chain and even Operations at various points during that span.  I've been a CFO that has spent as much time building relationships with our current and future customers as I've spent preparing detailed financial analysis for management teams and boards.  It is through all those experiences that I identified the market need and gained the confidence to start Beyond the Numbers as a way of helping small to midsize businesses achieve their objectives.

Even this website is an illustration of how I work to balance both ends of the spectrum.  I wanted a very professional website when discussing how we can help businesses with their challenges, yet I wanted this section to be extremely personal.  I wanted a picture of my family on here because everything I do with this business is in support of and to stay true to our family values.  Thank you to my wife, Jessica, and three beautiful daughters Addison, Ayla and Aliza for supporting me on this journey to make a difference in our community by partnering with our local businesses.
